Embracing Soft Beginnings: Intentions for 2025
So, 2024 wasn’t the year I envisioned, but in hindsight, it was exactly what I needed. Last year was about rediscovery—both personally and creatively. It was pretty uncomfy and full of doubt. But in those same breaths, I found an awful lot of hope and a sort of promise of something more just around the corner. I learned how I want to feel at work, uncovered the power of long-term daydreams, and let go of people, things, and fears that no longer worked for me.
A Soft Start to the New Year
My personal January experience has felt quieter and more introspective than the buzz I see online. You won’t find any sweeping resolutions over here, and there’s no rushing into big new projects. Instead, this month has been about recovery and care—easing back into the studio after the whirlwind of the last quarter of 2024. The calm is deliberate, a soft reset, and I’ve been leaning on the idea of “small actions” to guide me.
My mood board for 2025
The concept of small actions came up during my annual dream sesh with Julia (local Savannah broommaker+ studio mate), where we reflected on the year ahead. Instead of setting rigid goals, I focused on shaping a general vibe for 2025—a feeling and energy I want to carry with me throughout the year. Now that I have the vision in place, I’ll be taking small steps toward the big picture. I’m trying to break my big dreams down into small actions, setting quarterly check-ins to see if I’m still moving ahead in alignment with my overall vision for the year.
Soft Energy, Big Dreams
The energy I’m embracing this year is soft, forgiving, and rooted in instinct. It’s about saying no more often, trusting my creative impulses, and taking small, intentional steps every day. I want to let the work flow naturally, without forcing myself into boxes or timelines that don’t fit.
For 2025, my focus is on creative evolution. I’m exploring the interplay between soft goods and textured ceramics, finding ways to express comfort and intention through my work. I want my collections to reflect the feeling of getting lost in the artistic process—something soothing, grounding, and deeply personal.
New work in progress, I love these sunny windows
Looking Ahead
I don’t know exactly where this year will take me, but I’m excited to see it unfold. For now, I’m embracing the slow, soft energy of these early days and letting the work guide me. Here’s to following instincts, finding comfort in the process, and taking small actions toward big dreams.
Embracing the process,
Mia
