Bringing Sparkle and Light: Marbled Holiday Ornaments
As we stroll into another holiday season, I find myself craving all the warmth, sparkle, twinkling lights, and kinda classic holiday vibes in my home this year. Everything in the news feels heavy and uncertain right now, which has me leaning into my homespace and revisiting cozy rituals like decorating for the ho-ho-ho season. My festive decor is going up early this year and I have no shame about it.! I’m big into embracing seasonal shifts and celebrating the gifts that come along with each little jump as we step further into the year. But this year, it feels abundantly important that we all find ways to bring a bit more joy into our surroundings.
While it feels like I've stepped into a bit of an alternate timeline lately, I am still finding a lot of pleasure in my regular holiday rituals and I’ve found that creating beautiful, handmade pieces that bring happiness to myslef and others feels like a sweet (albiet small) antidote to the challenges we’re collectively facing. Soooo yeah, I’m pretty excited about my marbled holiday ornaments. Creating the patterns and splashing so many colors on these stars in particular has felt really great and healing for me. A little color magic is sprinkled onto each ornament! These paper mache ornaments are inspired by the vintage glass ones I’ve always adored (and always managed to break). Some are adorned with antique German glass glitter, I think it adds just a lil bit of extra magic. Many of these ornaments are over marbled, which means they have two layers of complex patterns. They’re basically little bursts of joy!
The holiday ornament update goes live in the webshop on November 21st at 6 PM, and I truly hope these pieces will bring light to your celebrations this year. I want them to be a reminder of beauty and joy during this holiday season.
With each ornament I marble, I’m reminded that even in the hardest of times, there’s always room for a little sparkle. I hope these marbled ornaments will bring warmth and light to your homes, just as they’ve brought healing and joy to my studio this season.
P.S. Should I do little marbling tutorial in this blog?? I’m still trying to decide what I want to do with this space. I’m all ears, so let me know what you think!
